Create and Export a Time Report

Time Report & Export for Jira provides an easy-to-use interface on a single page:

The app can be accessed from the Jira sidebar under Apps → Time Report & Export for Jira:

To create a report, open the app in Jira and follow these steps:

1. Select users or groups and a date range (mandatory)

To generate a report, you must select at least one user or one group. You must also specify a date range for the report.

Once at least one user/group and a date range are selected, the Search button becomes active, allowing you to start the search.

2. Apply advanced filters (optional)

You can refine your search results further by applying additional filters.

The following options are available:

  • Filter by projects

    • Select one or more projects to restrict results.

  • Filter by work items (comma-separated)

    • Select one or more work items to narrow down results.

  • JQL filter

    • Enter any JQL query to apply custom criteria.

  • Hide users without any work logs

    • By default, users without work logs appear in the report. Enable this option to hide them.

Note: Only one of the first three filters (projects, work items, or JQL) can be active at a time.

3. Trigger the search and check the results

Click the Search button to run the query. Depending on the number of users, the chosen date range, and applied filters, generating results may take some time.

Once complete, results are displayed in a table with the following columns:

  • User

  • Work Item ID

  • Work Item Title

  • Logged Time (individual entries, per work item, and total time)

  • Comment (work log comment)

  • Date (start time of the work log in Jira)

4. Export the results

You can export the results to Excel by clicking Export to Excel at the bottom of the page. This generates an Excel file, downloaded directly via your browser.

The exported file mirrors the report table (see Step 3) with one additional column: Entry Type. This column allows filtering entries in Excel, for example to hide summary rows.

The result of the export looks like this:
